First elected in 1972 and uncontested in his latest re-election bid, Sam Nunn is the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. He is also a member of the Governmental Affairs and Small Business Committees. Mr. Nunn is an attorney from Perry, GA, where he resides. He served in the Coast Guard from 1959 to 1960.
